Will Obama be President?

looking to the RightGetting right to the point, "YES!" Who will put him there? The Republican Party! Well, the Party won't do it alone. The real dirty work will be accomplished by the idiot fringe of the Republican Party. Those are the folks who keep calling themselves conservatives and keep using phrases like, "Conservative values" and, "Conservative principles" while they propose liberal ideas and idiotic and anti-American principles. How about some examples? Rush was recently saying, "The first thing we need to do is to cut taxes." (or something like that). Stupid, stupid and more stupid. I want lower taxes, but I don't want to borrow money and raise future taxes to get a few bucks back now. Of course, the real premise and the promise of a tax cut is that it will stimulate the economy. Duh! It wont work! While there may be a very small blip, the lion's share of the stimulus goes to corporate profits, period. There is no arguing about that, but some folks do want to insist that corporations will take advantage of even this minor stimulus to reinvest in their businesses. O. K., I'll concede that is a possibility. So, where do you think those reinvestment dollars go? How about India, Mexico, China, Taiwan and so on. The money goes to where all of the American jobs have gone and Americans will remain out of work or in low paying jobs while the government continues to spend more money than it has!

Need Other Examples?

Sample Image People are out of work. Real inflation is killing the rest of us. Our soldiers are dying for no reason in Iraq. Our education system is a complete failure. The US dollar is tumbling on the world market. The Bush Administration is admitting that our military can't do the job on the battlefield (the Administration having failed to build a strong military). The federal government (Bush Administration) has borrowed more money than any country in world history. ALL THAT - and, the Republican Party wants to make gay marriage a critical issue in the coming elections. Republican leaders want to ignore the conservative principles of live and let live and keep the government's nose out of individual and family matters in favor of forcing religious values on a small group of people with unpopular ideas.

As usual, mostly it's the fault of the Democrats they say. I'm always happy to bash Democrats, so I smile, but I also look around to make sure no one else is watching, because I know it's not true. I wonder if other conservative radio fans are stupid enough to believe we can blame it on the Democrats. Apparently, some are. That may make talk radio hosts happy, but it doesn't help the cause. By that, I mean it doesn't help pull together conservatives and the battered (as in ready for deep fry) Republican Party. The majority of Americans are smart enough to laugh at the idea that after 7 years of Republican rule, we can step up and say, "The Democrats did it." Talk radio hosts may be saying that, but it doesn't help the conservative cause as it makes us look like idiots. It doesn't help us put another Republican in office, because it implies that we didn't learn anything from the fraud of Dick Cheney and the idiocy of George Bush.

What About A Comeback?

Sample Image Republicans have fumbled and failed (and the image conservative government has suffered greatly because). If they want to come back to power, they have to win the trust of reasonable people. To do that, they must come back to conservative ideas. Calling themselves, "Conservative" is not enough. Everyone can see that the king has no new clothes. Most people recently disenchanted with the Republican Party are people of traditional conservative values. They want what the Republicans have failed to give them. They want honesty in government, freedom from an oppressive federal government, a smaller and leaner government, reduced government spending, individual freedom, economic independence and a secure nation. Unfortunately, the Republican Party in power has failed to deliver in all these areas. It has capitulated to the interests of huge corporations and religious special interests and left conservatives out in the cold. In so doing, it has alienated its primary base of support and built the steps upon which Obama will rise to the position he would never otherwise have dreamed of. Republicans can still change that, but only if they quit talking about being conservative and starting acting conservative by arguing for traditional conservative values.
